From the Dark Pages09/30/2017, 5:30 PM - 11:00 PM
A mysterious miscreant will haunt the mansion on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 5:30 to 11 p.m. with Conan Doyle and Sherlock hot on the trail of Jack the Ripper. Join us for an over-21 masquerade ball and murder mystery tour sponsored by Thermodyn Inc.
Participants will take a trip back in time with tours of the Seiberling Mansion featuring visits from authors Mary Shelley, Edgar Allen Poe and their creations. The evening includes the murder mystery tour and a masquerade ball with food, entertainment, and a costume contest. Prizes will be awarded throughout the evening, with a grand prize for the guest wearing the best costume.
Chairperson Dana Osburn says costumes are not required but she encourages all who attend to wear costumes to get in the spirit of the evening. “The books that are featured were all written about the time the Seiberling Mansion was built,” Osburn says.
The festivities go on all evening, from 5:30-11:00pm, and your ticket is good for the evening, You'll need to reserve a time for your mystery tour of the mansion, though, and will choose the time as you purchase your tickets. Members of the historical society will also be able to select the member discount for a reduced price on tickets.
The cost for the evening is $50 per person or $40 for HCHS members. Tickets are limited and available to guests older than 21. For more information, call the office at 765-452-4314. Memberships may be purchased at any time, including at the door. All proceeds of the event benefit the Howard County Historical Society.
