Members-Only Program: World War II Legacies06/29/2017
06/29/2017, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Elliott House, 1218 W. Sycamore, Kokomo, IN
Hoosier author Kayleen Reusser will be visiting Kokomo in June to present a special program about her efforts to document and preserve the personal stories of Hoosier veterans of World War II. The program is open to members of the Howard County Historical Society and will take place at 7:00pm on June 29th in the Elliott House, 1218 W. Sycamore in Kokomo.
Kayleen has interviewed more than 155 Hoosier vets, and 28 of their stories are included in her book, "World War II Legacies: Stories of Northeast Indiana Veterans." Her follow-up book will be released in the near future. Her Kokomo program will take place shortly after her return from a tour of WWII sites in Europe. Reusser’s stories have been published in the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel and America in WWII magazine. She is a regular contributor to the VisitIndiana travelblog (including a 2014 piece on Christmas at the Seiberling), and has authored 15 young adult non-fiction books. Learn more about her and the WWII project at kayleenreusser.com.
Kayleen is also interested in talking with veterans from the Howard County area during her day in Kokomo. Contact the historical society if you know of a veteran who is willing to be interviewed – or are such a person yourself.
Seating for the June program is limited and available to historical society members on a first-come, first-served basis. Non-members who are interested in attending may enroll as a member at howardcountymuseum.org. The cost is minimal and the benefits worthwhile.
