We invite you to our second lecture with Howard County Historian Gil Porter and his presentation Exploring the Life of Aliff Henley on Wednesday, June 24 at 6 PM. This lecture will be at Kresge Auditorium at IU Kokomo.

In this lecture series, we will explore the life and experiences of a woman born enslaved in Virginia before the Revolution who later was the first African American to own land in Howard County, Indiana.

Guest Speaker
Howard County Historian Gilbert Porter works with the Howard County Historical Alliance to revise and revitalize the area’s early history stories through public programs and scholarship. A U.S. Navy veteran and Indiana University Kokomo graduate, he has worked in organizational communications as both a practitioner and a teacher for more than four decades.
